It’s pretty frustrating when a company with whom you’ve done business leaks some data about you, whether it be your address, age, or credit card number. But when an entity to whom you’ve entrusted data that should never be exposed to the public leaks data, the consequences can be devastating. Exactly how devastating may remain to be seen. Sweden’s Transport Agency moved all of its data to “the cloud”, apparently unaware that there is no cloud, only somebody else’s computer. In doing so, it exposed and leaked every conceivable top secret database: fighter pilots, SEAL team operators, police suspects, people under witness relocation. Names, photos, and home addresses: the list is just getting started.
